Femi Temowo – The Music is the Feeling!

  |   Engines Orchestra   |   No comment

We’ve been quiet on our website for a few weeks but it’s because we’re working on some top-secret projects! One of which is in collaboration with the wonderful Nigerian-born guitarist Femi Temowo. For those of you who don’t know, Femi is a Mobo award nominated artist well known for his work with Amy Winehouse, Dee Dee Bridgewater, The Roots and Soweto Kinch to name a few. His original music is beautiful and blends his influences from Afro, Jazz and Folk.

In October we took nineteen musicians to RAK Studios in London to record his 3rd solo release –  The Music is the Feeling. Featuring a double trio with bassist Karl Rasheed Abel and drummer/producer Troy Millar and joined by fellow bassist and drummer Michael Olatuja and Enersto Simpson we had a great time recording his music and can’t thank those who supported Femi in his crowdfunding campaign for making it all possible. The collaboration has resulted in a beautiful tapestry of head nodding grooves, contemplative melodies and heartfelt harmony delivered with a unique flair and a contagious feel-good mood and we’re incredibly proud to be a part of this project. It’s going to be released later in 2016 but for now here’s a little taster of what’s to come:
